![]() ![]() After reading more forums, there was this thing about games not being able to access a file required for it (The Exception Access Violation, I presume). I'm not entirely sure what I did, but the game is now working. But the problem has also apparently happened in various other games as well. BFME uses an upgraded version of the Zero Hour engine, so it may be the same error. The symbol has been different, but for the past 8 times (and others) it has been the FXParticleSystem thing.įrom what I've seen, this problem has occurred before in Command and Conquer: Generals: Zero Hour. The 'access address' number seems to be different every, or most of the time, along with all of the other numbers, as far as I can tell. ![]() Then the game does not start, and in its stead is an error screen (see attached image). Every time I try to start the game, it shoes the title screen that appears right before the game takes control of the desktop (the desktop is still visible around the image). The problem happens both before and after patching. I have tried multiple reinstalls of the game, and have patched it. For the rest of my hardware, I can't say, but the game ran fine a few months ago. I have the latest graphics drivers (downloaded it last night). For a taste, I have an nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS and an Intel Core 2 Duo (Conrad, I think it was) as 2.66 GHz My system specs far exceed the requirements of this old(ish) game. ![]() I had the game running perfectly a few months ago before I uninstalled it for space. ![]() This is not my first time installing the game. Im just trying to save some fellow members/guests the headache ive faced after upgrading my hardware. My copy of The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth encounters an error every time I try to start it up. It should be enough to get the game to start, then you can change your settings in the game. Inside this directory make a text file called options.ini If it doesnt exist, run the game once and let it fail, it should make the directory. Make sure you can see hidden files (you should know how)Ĭ:\Documents and Settings\(your login name)\Application Data\My The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king Files The launcher panic's out and crashes instead of just launching in the lowest rezolution. My issue was that the installer/launcher and such did not understand that i had a monitor capable of wide screen resolutions. SITREP: You install BFME2 and or ROTWK, and after launch you get a game.dat error followed by a c runtime error, or something like that. This was an unexpected fix due to me running a HD tv instead of a standard monitor. After a while i managed to find one fix out of many. Ok folks ive been ripping out my hair due to this idiotic problem EA refuses to fix. ![]()
